After the official opening yesterday morning at Palacio de la Juventud Camagüeyana, a conference on Foreign Trade took place.
Besides the traditional business rounds, a fashion parade will be held next February 7th and awards will be granted in the categories of Best Quality Product, Best Stand Design, Best Publicity and Best Negotiator, the last for the one who accomplishes more contracts.
Camagüey will be able to show its enormous exports potential regarding products such as cement, lobster, shrimps, shoe soles and beverages.
Among the topics to discuss in the current edition are goods, machinery, equipment, technology, raw materials and services.
Investment opportunities regarding tourism will also be shown either at Santa Lucía Beach or the capital city, a nearly 500 years old town whose historic center has been recently declared World Heritage Site.
ExpoCam is the biggest commercial event in the province meant to identify and consolidate the interests of producers and traders. Every year it takes an increasing importance not only for the rest of the country but also for foreign investors.
Camagüey has got the necessary framework for international commerce: two harbors at Nuevitas and two airports, one in Camagüey City and the other at Santa Lucía Beach, facilities that ease import and export operations supported by a net of roads and railroads as well as a train-and-wagons workshop.
Tourism in the province has two main attractions: Santa Lucía Beach: 19km of white sand beach, a place where the second largest coral reef of the world is located; perfect for scuba diving, fishing, hunting and sailing with an unexploited exceptional value.
The other is the capital city, one of the first seven villages founded in Cuba, owner of a peculiar charming that distinguish it.
