Celso Pazos Alberti, the delegate of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in Ciego de Ávila, expressed that the award is due to the results attained by the territory in the production of food as well as  the quality of a varied range of services including  health, energy and environmental.

As an example, he mentioned the reduction by 0,5 percent of environmental pollution caused by the setting in operation of biogas plants in the Research Center  Bio-food and the Nauyú distillery.  

Pazos also referred to the inauguration  of centers for the management of knowledge in eight out of the 10 municipalities of the province, the research works in the fields of social and humanistic sciences, and the  assessment  of danger, vulnerability and risk analysis regarding hydro-meteorological disasters.

He also expressed that the new products and services increased by 42 percent and   contributed to enlarge the exports of cigars and citrus juices, and influenced the substitution of imports high density pipes and of plastic parts.
