 Hanoi holds meeting to mark Cubas National Day
Truong Tan Sang, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat, made the remark at a meeting in Hanoi on Dec. 31 to celebrate the 50th National Day of Cuba.

The meeting was also attended by Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, among others.

Sang highlighted the significance of Cuba’s revolution, saying that it opened a new era of independence and freedom for Cuban people and laid a foundation for the first socialist state in the western hemisphere.

He expressed wish that Vietnam and Cuba would exert efforts to bring their relations in economy, trade, science and technology, culture, education and health care to be equal to their political ties.
Addressing the event, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Fredesman Turro Gonzales said the Cuban Revolution’s victory paved the way for a period of continuous socio-economic progresses of Cuba .

Regarding the two countries’ relations, the Ambassador stressed that the close rapport between Vietnam and Cuba has overcome challenges of time and fluctuations in the world to develop. The two countries have given each other assistance and support to surmount difficulties.

On the occasion, Ambassador Gonzales expressed thanks to the Vietnamese people for their assistance to Cuba during its difficult periods, especially their recent aid to help lessen losses caused by natural disasters.
