The Cuban Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC) granted its National Literature prizes to poet Marcelo Morales, novelist Ernesto Perez Castillo and literary translator Jorge Miralles.
Poet Marcelo Morales was granted the Julian del Casal for his poetry collection Materia, while Perez Castillo was awarded the Cirilo Villaverde prize for his work "Haciendo cosas mal" and Miralles got the Jose Rodriguez Feo award for his translation of the work of poet Edmond Jabes.
The UNEAC awards were contested by one hundred works; however the juries of social-historic essay and children literature, decided not to grant awards in their categories. However, in the case of the Ismelillo Prize, two poetry collections received mentions.
The awarded works will be published by the Union publishing house.
