Arturo Sottos Film Represents Cuba at Festival in Malaysia
Scripted and directed by Arturo Sotto, the detective film, which has had very good reviews. The Cuban film is including among the 11th from an equal number of nations at the event.

Premiered in 2007, ‘La Noche de los Inocentes’ has a cast of highly acclaimed, experienced figures like Jorge Perugorría, Silvia Águila and Susana Pérez, and new, young talents like Yasmani Herrero, Rachel Falcón, Edenis Sánchez, among others.

The action unfolds on December 28th (Innocents’ Day) at night in a Havana hospital.

This is Sotto’s third film. With music by Ernán López Nussa, the director uses the detective plot to show the Cuban society. Sotto, 41, has two previous films ´Pon tu pensamiento en mí’ (1995) and ‘Amor Vertical’ (1997).

The 7th Latin American Film Festival in Malaysia was inaugurated on November 27th with the screening of the prize-winning Argentinean film ‘El Hijo de la Novia’ (Son of the Bride), nominated for the Oscar in 2001 in the category of the Best Foreign Movie.

‘El Hijo de la Novia’ won the prize for the Best Latin American Feature Film and the Special Grand Jury Prize at the Montreal World Film Festival (Canada); the Silver Spike and Audience Awards at the Valladolid International Film Festival (Spain) and the Audience Award at Havana’s New Latin American Film Festival (Cuba).

The Latin American Film Festival in Malaysia is sponsored by the embassies of the Latin American countries there (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela), with the collaboration of the Malaysian National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur.

According to the organizers, the event provides a unique opportunity for the Malaysian movie lovers and general public to appreciate the different cultural realities and life visions of the Latin American countries.
