Las Tunas Cuba in Search of an Ecologically Sustainable Agrarian Development
In the eight municipalities of this eastern region the members of the ACTAF cooperate with the strategy adopted by the country in order to rehabilitate and to restore the areas and facilities, desolated by the hurricanes Gustav, Ike and Paloma, which caused in Cuba damages superior to the nine thousand million dollars.

To increase and to diversify the production of milk, meats, tubers, grains, fruits, vegetables and other foods, it is a prime objective of the ACTAF, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that assumes the training of their members and generalizes the best experiences regarding how to achieve an organic agriculture, in harmony with the nature, and in function of the human development.

For the execution of their objectives, the agricultural and forest technicians have the total support of the Cuban Government, the mutual help of numerous scientific institutions of the country, and the collaboration of several NGO, settled down in Spain, France, Canada, United Kingdom and other parts of the World.

Some hours ago, during the provincial assembly prior to the 3rd Congress of the ACTAF, the members to this organization in Las Tunas agreed to contribute to increase the quantity and quality of the agricultural productions and to improve the conservation and handling of the natural resources, aspects included in the agenda of the national event, foreseen for the beginning of 2009.

The work of that ACTAF in the application of the scientific-technical achievements in the agriculture is now more necessary than never, because besides suffering serious damages due to the climatic change, this province continues being the driest and the most deserted of Cuba.
