Cuban piano school soon made itself felt on October in Costa Rica, as it achieved awards in the V María Clara Cullel International Competition, that took place in the capital of that Central American nation.

In the advance category, Darío Antonio Martín, 21 years old and a student of Mercedes Estévez from the Higher Art Institute, won the first award and that for the best interpretation of a Costa Rican piece, informed today Granma newspaper.
On the other hand Danae Álvarez, 17 years old and a student of Miriam Cruz from the National Art School, achieved the second place in the intermediate category, beaten only by the Mexican Anthony Tamayo.
