Renowned Cuban lawyer Julio Fernandez Bulte passed away in Havana.
In the late 1950s, he became part of the underground revolutionary movement that fought the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.

He graduated in 1962, and devoted 43 years of his life to teaching.

Over the last ten years, he was, as all of the Cuban people, involved in the Battle of Ideas that made it possible for the return of the child Elian Gonzalez in 1999, who had been retained by his relatives in Miami against the will of his father.

And more recently he was very active in the legal battle for the release of René González, Gerardo Hernández, Fernando González, Ramón Labañino y Antonio Guerrero, the Five Cuban Heroes unfairly imprisoned in the United States for fighting terrorism.
