Cuban Province Vaccinates against Leptospirosis
Reynaldo Rufin, director of the Provincial Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, reported that the medicine “Nosolet” is supplied in sublingual drops and has no side effects.

The doctor stressed that to ensure the effectiveness of the vaccine; people should not eat any food 10 minutes before or after consuming the dose.

Rufin added that the vaccine began to be supplied in student and evacuation centers during the hurricane, and it was later expanded to the rest of the population of the territory, which exceeds a million inhabitants.

Doctors, nurses, health technical personnel and medical students, among others, are involved in the distribution of the medicine.

”Leptospirosis is an infectious disease that is transmitted from animals such as rodents and other pets,” said Rufino.

He stressed that the disease is caused by the Leptospira bacterium, which enters the body mainly by lesions in the skin and mucous membranes.
