Cuban representatives excelled at the 2008 World Philatelic Exhibition held in the capital of the Czech Republic. Cuba's two collections in the adult category were described as relevant.

José Ignacio Abreu, a member of the Hispanic Academy of Philately, won the gold medal with his collection Cuban Philately.
For his part, José Ramón Mallón won the Vermeil medal (golden silver) with his collection "Emisión de la Zona Franca de Matanzas".
The latter is the first Cuban collection presented in the One-Frame Class, since the International Philately Federation officially introduced that category.
Some 500 exhibitors from 61 countries competed in the following categories: Traditional Philately, Postal History, One-Frame Class and Philatelic Literature.
