According to Prensa Latina news agency, the Red Cross Society of China also announced cash aid of 50,000 US dollars to its Cuban counterpart.
The Chinese government announced on Friday that it will provide 300,000 US dollars to Cuba as a donation to the Caribbean nation’s recovery efforts after Hurricane Gustav hit the western region of the country last weekend leaving thousands of houses destroyed and significant economic losses.
Chinese President Hu Jintao sent a message of solidarity to the Cuban people and government shortly after Gustav devastated the Isle of Youth Special Municipality and areas of the province of Pinar del Rio last Saturday.
