Japanese artist to exhibit in Santa Clara

The political and social situation in Cuba during the ‘70s of the last century is reflected in the photographic exhibition of the Japanese artist Akitoshi Kondo exhibited at the Casa de la Ciudad, in this city.

The exhibition, which will be opened until next October, is made up of nine pictographies reflecting everyday routine in the country as well as moments of great political importance.

This is the second collection of photographs donated by Kondo to this institution from the Villa Clara province; the former one ―which also dealt with social subjects― was more extensive but in a smaller format and were donated to the cultural institution in Villa Clara in 2006.

The opening was preceded by a group of specialists who talked about Fidel Castro´s educative work from the triumph of the Revolution in 1959 to the present.

The Casa de la Ciudad in Santa Clara city holds the second biggest photographic collection in Cuba regarding the amount of works and their importance. It also hold the first photographs donated by the Japanese artist.
