The first Guyanese medical doctors, who took their courses in Cuba and the practical period in their country, held their graduation ceremony on Monday at Guyana's National Theater, in the presence of Guyanese President Bharrat Jagdeo.

The ceremony was also attended by Guyana's Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Public Service Minister Jennifer Westford and other government officials, as well as members of the diplomatic community.
Attending for Cuba were Commercial Attaché Mercedes Martinez, who called on the graduates to be good professionals and serve their country, according to the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
The specials guests to the ceremony included the dean of the Medical University in the Cuban province of Guantanamo, Ibrahim Ganen and the Cuban professors, who gave the practical course.
