The Brisas Guardalavaca Hotel, in the eastern Cuban province of Holguín, has done an excellent work to protect the environment.
As an acknowledgement of years of work, the 400-room hotel was granted the National Environmental Award and is the only establishment of its kind that has received such an acknowledgement in the province.
The hotel has inspired other establishments in Pesquero, Esmeralda and Guardalavaca beaches to protect the environment.
The award is granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, which participates in technical debates and analyses of development projects on coastal areas before they are carried out.
