The President of the Cuban Council of State and Ministers, Raúl Castro Ruz, will deliver the main address at the national activity to mark the 55th anniversary of the 1953 revolutionary attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.
The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. (local Cuban time) at the Moncada facility -former stronghold of the Batista dictatorship- in eastern Santiago de Cuba province.
After the 1959 Cuban revolution, the military fortress was turned into the 'July 26th' school complex.
On hand will be some 100 000 Santiago de Cuba residents, representing the entire Cuban people, as well as a group of revolutionaries who participated in the attack on July 26th, 1953, members of the Granma yacht expeditionary force, and leaders of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), the Young Communist League (UJC), students and grassroots organizations.
The patriotic event will be broadcast live on Cuban radio and television and on the international frequencies of Radio Havana Cuba.
