Cuban female volleyball team will try to get the victory for its ticket to the Grand Prix Finals

The Cuban female volleyball team will try to get the victory for its ticket to the finals of the 2008 Grand Prix in its match against Thailand, host of the competition this year, in a match belonging to Group C, in Bangkok.

Cuba beat Kazakhstan 3 sets to 1 Saturday and now they will go to their match against Thailand as favourites. If they lose the match they will have to wait for the result of the Turkish team against Poland.

If Cuba loses its match and the Turkish team beats Poland –something very possible to happen- the sixth team will be the one with the best balance in won and lost sets between Cuba and Turkey.

The classified teams for the finals in the Japanese city of Yokohama are Japan (host), now in the 9th place with 2 victories and 6 defeats; China (8-0), US, Brazil and Italy (7-1).

The Sunday program will be completed with the matches Dominican Republic-Japan, China-Brazil, Italy-US and Germany-Kazakhstan.

Cuba, with 5 victories and 3 defeats, is in the 6th place, followed by Turkey (4-4), Germany and Dominican Republic (3-5), Japan (2-6), Thailand and Kazakhstan (1-7) and Poland (0-8).
