Andres Luis Morejon, representative from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, said Pastors for Peace initiative is to defy Washington restrictions of travelling to Cuba.
Morejon said "caravan members are led by the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO), Pastors for Peace, a US ecumenical institution created in 1967 to fight for social justice."
Morejon told the Cuban News Agency that the aid includes some 100 tons of medical, education, artistic and sports equipment, as well as eight buses.
Since 1992, the group has being condemning the US economic, trade and financial blockade against Cuba, which has caused the island losses valued at over $90 billion in almost 50 years.
