Visit to Cuba the Brazilian rock group Sepultura this summer invited by the Cuban Rock Agency

The Cuban Music Institute’s program director, Jose Vazquez, announced in a recent news conference the visit to the country of the Brazilian rock group Sepultura this summer invited by the Cuban Rock Agency.

“They are very motivated to visit our country,” Vazquez told Granma newspaper, adding that “the presence of Sepultura will probably shake the public this summer.”

According to Vazquez, Sepultura will make two presentations: one on July 18, at the Jose Marti Anti-imperialist Tribune, a large outdoor venue in the capital; and a second concert on July 20 in the city of Santa Clara.

Sepultura is the Latin American rock group that has caused the greatest impact internationally since its founding in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Bello Horizonte in the 1980s. It has recorded emblematic albums like Roots, of strong social content in favor of autochthonous cultures, and in recognition of Latin American identity.

Despite the fact that the band no longer includes two of its founders, brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, it maintains a tremendously exciting rhythmic strength, that has taken them to tour the world and perform with prominent rock figures like the US group Metallica and US vocalists Jonathan Davis and Mike Patton, from the bands Korn and Faith No More, respectively, and with Brazilian musician Carlinhos Brown.
