Cuban music shine in Paris: Havana Polyphonic Choir

The impressive mix of melodies, rhythm and harmony present in Havana’s Polyphonic Choir, made Cuban music shine in Paris again as renewed demonstration of artistic talent in Cuba.

Fourteen young voices led by Professor Carmen Collado since 1999, complemented each other in excellent concord that earned public acclaim.

Along Collado and Choral leadership by French Soli-Tutti, Denis Gautheyrie, the choir shared stage along 12 concerts from June 2-15.

The program relied mostly on Cuban traditional music and poetry and international counterparts: Electo Silva, Leo Brouwer, Maria Teresa Vera, Richard Egües and Ignacio Piñeiro.

Farewell at the Cuban embassy also involved poetry by Nicolas Guillen, Pablo Neruda and Mario Benedetti.

The last piece was world-known French song Sur le Pont de Avignon.
