Cuban specialists will speak about their experiences in the conservation and protection of the national environment during the inaugural session of the International Convention Tropic that begins today at the Convention Center in Havana.
Dr. Gisela Alonso Dominguez, president of the Agency of the Environment, will deliver the first lecture of the meeting focusing on the protection of the environment in Cuba, where forest areas cover more than a quarter of all the national territory.
According to the program of the event, experts in areas such as geography, ecology, meteorology and agronomy, from Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, Spain, United States, Venezuela and other countries, will participate in the discussions until next Friday.
Dr. Marlen Palet Rabaz, president of the Organizing Committee of the event, said that the meeting aims at analyzing scientific-technical advances for prospective researches with regards to the human adaptability to climate change.
In parallel with this International Convention, congresses of Geography, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Ecology and Meteorology will be taking place.
