The Chinese researchers also had the chance to exchange their views and their experiences with members and authorities of the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and visited places of interest in the Cuban fifth most populated city, including the Argeo Martínez sugar mill.

The program of activities of the Asian visitors -- both honorary members of the José Martí cultural society -- include a visit to the city of Baracoa and the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, a world Natural Heritage site, located between the provinces of Guantánamo and Holguín.

Zhang Chengzhi is a member of the Association of Chinese Writers’ National Committee and also Deputy President of the Association of Writers in Beijing and his wife, Liu Chengjun, is a researcher with the Latin American Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She also translated Ignacio Ramonet’s book ‘One Hundred Hours with Fidel’ into Chinese.

The visiting Chinese intellectuals are both friends of the Cuban Revolution and its leadership. For over two decades now, they have studied the life and work of Argentinean-Cuban legendary Guerrilla Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.

On June 13th, on the eve of the 80th birthday anniversary of the author of the book ‘Socialismo y el hombre en Cuba’ (Socialism and Man in Cuba), two books will be presented in China ‘Cálida Presencia’ (Warm Presence) and ‘Sin olvido: crímenes en la Higuera’ (No Oblivion: Crimes in Higuera), by Cuban writers Froilán González y Adys Cupull.
