Third Cuba CARICOM Session Underway In Eastern Cuba
Raul Becerra Egaña, president of Cuba's Chamber of Commerce, ratified his country's determination to expand regional integration.

Businesspersons and producers from several nations discussed some of the areas that must be improved to make this a reality such as speeding up market studies and improving regional transportation of goods.

Latin American and Caribbean Director of the Cuban Foreign Trade Ministry Edilia Prince said Cuba is currently diversifying its exports to the region, which include medicine, medical equipment, cigars, rum, steel ingots and chemical products.

She said Cuba hopes to consolidate cooperation with the countries of the region in the fields of health, sports and culture, and promotes agreements signed in the framework of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).

The chairman of the Caribbean Industry and Commerce Association, Nigel John, also spoke during the session. He commended Cuba's efforts in the search for greater efficiency and development as well as in the management of disasters, education and public services.

Participating at the gathering are delegates from the Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Ecuador, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guatemala.
