In Cuba: Ciego de Ávilas Zoo First to Hold a Computer Science Youth Club
According to Viviano Moyano Trujillo, Provincial Director of Youth Clubs, although the new facility will keep the objective of the rest, that is, to computerize society and become the computer of the Cuban family, it will emphasize environmental issues.

The club has been provided with modern equipment and educational software such as didactic multimedia, including games, which will contribute to reinforce the environmental awareness of children and youth.

The users will also be trained in important topics like facing natural disasters, the care of protected areas in Cuba and the endangered endemic species of the Island.

The Director also expressed that the educational work of the Youth Club will start with the workers of the zoo, who will be taught several training courses, then the woerk will reach the rest of the population.

In a second phase of the project, Moyano Trujillo added, the Cuban Intranet will be available to the users. At the moment, a Web page is being created to promote the characteristics and services of the zoological park. It could be reached at www.cav.jovenclub.cu

Specialists and instructors of the youth clubs in Ciego de Ávila are also engaged in creating the software allowing a virtual visit to the Zoo, which is about three hectares and lodges 28 animal species.
