Cuba will join the celebrations for the International Museum Day
Under the slogan Museums, agents of social change and development, that its promoted by its International Council (ICOM), the festivities will also be dedicated to the Iberian-American Year of the Museums.

A sample of the work by children, phrase workshops, oral narration and musical presentations, will be some of the activities organized by the cultural heritage department from the Office of the Historian of the City, in this capital.

Alexandra Cummings, president of ICOM, in a communiqué published by the web site of the organization, called to meditate on the dynamic role of these entities in society.

Although museums are traditionally known for their collections, their educational and ethic task should be extended towards every multi-cultural communities, through exhibitions and workshops, adds the text.

The International Museum Day was established on the year 1977. Since then, it urges to think of the need to preserve history and to increase the dialogue between professionals and all the different specialties.

Last year it invited to reflect on universal heritage.
