Alicia Alonso and the Cuban National Ballet company are currently on a Spanish tour
Founder and director of Cubas National Ballet company and one of the most important figures of classic dance in the 20th century, Alicia left a personal "secret" that will be locked inside the safe for the next 20 years.

The event took place at the old safe of the building that houses the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute, which is today aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of Spain and Spanish America.

Sources of the Cuban National Ballet company informed that Alicia left her legacy inside the safe-deposit box number 1029. According to the same sources, the prima ballerina absoluta described the experience as unique.

Following Alicias request, the legacy will be revealed in 2028.

Carmen Caffarel, director of the Cervantes Institute, granted Alicia a symbolic key and a certificate on the occasion, with which the Spanish institution pays homage to the long, brilliant professional career of the legendary artist.

Other important figures, who have left legacies at the "Caja de las Letras" safe include writers Francisco Ayala, Antonio Gamoneda and Carlos Edmundo de Ory, painter Antoni Tàpies, the promoters of the reading project of "Farenheit 451" and researcher Margarita Salas.

Alicia Alonso and the Cuban National Ballet company are currently on a Spanish tour. They are scheduled to perform in Madrid, Valencia, León, Castilla la Mancha and Barcelona.
