In the region of the Sierra Maestra in the eastern province of Granma there are different courses of information technology being taught that stimulate the knowledge and use of free software, apart from the creation of computer programs.

Cuba to advance in computerization of society
Children, who live on the highest hills of the Caribbean island, come first when entering these youth clubs, while they are allowed to enjoy games in these computers in their free time.

Children who suffer from uncommon diseases have a different timetable for learning and entertainment, pointed out the source.

The province of Granma, found 733 kilometers away from Havana, had 47 computer Clubs.

The Joven Club (Young Club) Project, which is more than twenty years old, surged so that people, no matter their age or gender, could have a modern tool to face the challenges imposed by the development of modern times.

Recently, the Cuban vice-minister of Informatics and Communication, Jorge Luis Perdomo, declared, in an exclusive interview to Prensa Latina, that the program has benefited more than a million people.

During these two decades –he stated- Cubans have increased their knowledge about culture, science and sports through virtual libraries.
