Congress of the Cuban writers and artists has to be projected towards the defense of national culture
Sergio Morales Vera, poet, narrator and journalist told AIN that the industrialized nations insist on minimizing and being unaware of the true culture of the people as a way to subjugate them and to impose to them their aesthetic standards.

We have to declare our stand on this point and to propose actions to face this real fact that increases through the globalization of information.

The president of the local affiliate from the Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (National Association of Writers and Artists from Cuba) (UNEAC in Spanish), Morales added that there are great expectations about the seventh congress of the organization, which will be held next week in Havana.

He highlighted the organic life of the UNEAC as something very important and the fact that from the debates that are to be generated in the event will be based the future of the Cuban artistic avant-garde.

With more than 200 members in the organization, Camagüey will be in the meeting with 11 delegates selected through an outcome process which began last October.

We will take the Congress a series of proposals as actors from a province with an important cultural heritage and we consider artistic teaching as a main theme, highlighted Morales.

Camagüey is a big cultural stronghold in Cuba, in plastic and staging arts as well as in music, cinema and radio.
