Roberto Fernández Retamar (Cuba) it will be sworn of the  award to Critical Thinking in Venezuela
According to the Ministry for Culture on this occasion the jury is made up by Bolívar Echeverría (Ecuador), Roberto Fernández Retamar (Cuba), Stella Calloni (Argentina), Fernando Báez (Venezuela) and Daniel Hernández (Venezuela).

In the first edition (2005) participated 136 pieces from 16 countries and the winner of the award was El Sujeto y la Ley. El retorno del sujeto reprimido (The Subject and the Law. The return of the repressed subject), by the German-Costa Rican philosopher Franz Hinkelammert.

In that occasion there were also given honorific mentions because of the appropriateness of the themes and their critical rigor to pieces from Mexico, Argentina, Mexico and Cuba.

In the second edition of the award there were 107 pieces, with the highest recognition going to Vuelta de Siglo (Turn of the Century), by the professor and researcher from Ecuador Bolívar Echeverría.

In general, this event takes into account texts that analyze the reality of our contemporary world in a critical manner. This may be done in a global or sectorial manner and in any field of social activity.
