The book
The book "Cita con La Habana" by renowned Chinese writer and painter Yu Xi, was presented in Beijing during a ceremony that highlighted Yu Xi's friendship for Cuba and the content of the work, based on his own personal experiences on the Caribbean island.

The volume, launched at the headquarters of the Cuban diplomatic mission there, was published by Conocimiento del Mundo publishing house. The 275-page book is illustrated with watercolor paintings by and pictures of the author.

Cubas ambassador in China, Carlos Miguel Pereira, said the book reveals the strengthened friendship between our two nations and is also a retrospective of the long years of bilateral ties.

"In his book, Yu Xi not only describes Cuba. He looks further and deeper. A gifted painter, he grasped all the colors of Havana and the main characteristics of the Cuban people."

The Chinese writer, who is also a journalist, a photographer, a painter, a calligrapher and a promoter of his countrys culture, had his first contact with Cuba nine years ago, when he fell madly in love with the Caribbean island.

The books preface, written by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang and Cuban Ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira, highlights the strengthened relations between our two nations over the past several years, reaching unprecedented levels today.

Pereira stressed that it was not by chance that the book was launched on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the revolutionary attack on the Presidential Palace in Havana on March 13, 1957, which he described as one of the most glorious pages of the Cuban revolutionary struggle.
