Reynaldo Domínguez, director from the provincial Music Center Rafael Somavilla, from Matanzas, told AIN that together with the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (Association of Writers and Artists from Cuba) and the Office of the Historian of the city of Matanzas.

This Wednesday, the day of the death of José White, students from the intermediate level of the music school and famous artists will pay tribute to the memory of the author of La Bella Cubana (The Beautiful Cuban), in the afternoon, at the La Rueda Dentada park from the city of the Rivers and Bridges.

Domínguez highlighted the importance that the youngest generation may learn the work by White, who was born in Matanzas and is a famous figure from world music. For that reason, they will also perform a huge concert with pieces by the famous violin player and composer.

The activities fro the White Year, will also be related to the 315th anniversary of the city of San Carlos y San Severino de Matanzas and among the most important actions are the termination of the capital reparation of the concert hall that carries its name.

José White, who died in Paris on March 12, 1918, was one of the Cuban musicians most frequently mentioned by José Martí in his articles. He had the Arch of the Golden Violin, one of the highest distinction given to artists in his time.
