Opens New Website Dedicated to Cuban Fives Heroes
A new website dedicated to the mothers and sisters of five Cuban political prisoners in the United States was inaugurated on Monday by the International Committee for the Release of Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, René González, Ramón Labañino and Fernando González - internationally known as the Cuban Five -, who remain unjustly held in US prisons since 1998 for infiltrating extreme-right groups in South Florida that were planning and carrying out terrorist actions against Cuba.

Alicia Jrakpo, member of the Free the Five International Committee said that "this website will be an important instrument within the United States to break the silence kept by the mainstream media on this case and also to highlight their relatives right to visit them on a regular basis."

The new website includes information about Washingtons denial of visas to Adriana Pérez and Olga Salanueva, wives of Gerardo and René, respectively, and the recent creation of an International Commission for Family Visits Rights.

Pictures of the Five and their biographies as well as news on the case and messages of support from human rights groups and personalities around the world are also available.

Internet surfers who visit the website also have the possibility of writing letters to US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice and Attorney General Michael Mukasey denouncing the unjust legal process conducted against the Cuban Five.

Currently, the website is available only in English but its prototers announced that it will also be available in Spanish soon.
