Local tourism authorities pointed out that during the second half of February, the daily average of tourists staying in Varadero remained over 29,000.
Good work by international hotel chains and increased traffic at the Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport contributed to breaking the record in the world-famous beach resort.
According to statistics, 70 percent of tourists staying in Varadero come from Canada, Italy, Spain, France and Great Britain.
Generally, Cuba's peak tourist season runs from November to April.
