Awarded with the National Research Award, the text makes a recount of the appearance and development of the so called Ciudad Bandera (Flag City), a city which next March, 8 is to celebrate its one hundred and eighty years of history as a locality.

The historian of the city of Cárdenas, Ernesto Álvarez Blanco, is the author of a biography of the student leader José Antonio Echeverría, a still unpublished volume, where still unknown details of the life and action of the organizer of the assault to the Presidential Palace and the capture of Radio Reloj are unveiled.

The presence in Avilés of the book Cárdenas. prehistoria de una ciudad, is inserted in the collaboration between both cities.
