The tournament, whose preliminary stage kicks off on Tuesday, will include eight groups divided into two four-team sub-groups, while the two teams that reach the finals will get their tickets to the Beijing

The Cuban team will make its debut in the US group; they will face Honduras on March 13 and Panama on March 15. The Cuban team held several preparation games prior to the Tampa tournament; they first lost to a team of the French police and later they defeated the Haitian team, which won over the Cubans in another match.
Cuba has participated in two Olympic Games as guest country: Montreal 1976 and Moscow 1980.
