According to Julio Sanchez, general director of the expansion project, 2,239,263 barrels of crude oil had been processed up until March 3, and fuel oil from the plant is being supplied to the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes generating plant in Cienfuegos.
Sanchez said that production has been steadily increasing since the start of operations on January 8 reaching full capacity, some 65,000 barrels a day during this first stage.
The refinery produces liquefied gas, naphtha, diesel, and turbo-fuel.
As part of the project, docks are being repaired along with three 50,000 cubic meter tanks.
