Self-taught artist Andres Zerneri told Prensa Latina that the labor to smelt a four-meter-high sculpture has started thanks to the voluntary contribution of almost 14,500 people from Argentina and worldwide.
The statute is being made up of over 6,613 pounds of bronze objects that have been granted to the sculptor.
Zerneri said that the ship with the monument to Che will sail from La Plata River port in this capital to Rosario, where Che was born on June 14, 1928, to arrive June 1-2 to that town.
The act to unveil the monument to Che will be held at a five-block square donated by the Rosario government, and attendance of people from Buenos Aires and neighboring cities is expected.
