155 years after his birth date Martí is valid and is more necessary, emphasised Cuevas, PhD in Historic Sciences and Director of the National Cuban Library, during the celebration for this day at the Cuban Emmbassy in Russia.

When underlying the dimension of Martí thinking, Torres Cuevas affirmed that since the moment the Cuban Revolution started to read Martí, it started a growing maturity process, from Julio Antonio Mella and the 1930's intellectuals generation.

This way starts the path from a pro-independence thinking until a Marxist one that is synthesised with Fidel Castro XX century revolution highlighted Torres, who is also the National Social Sciences Award winner.

The famous historian and researcher indicated that Martí saw and discussed problems at the end of the XIX century that are an urgency today at the beginnings of the XXI century: the equilibrium of the world.

The historic circumstances allowed him to see a phenomenon before other people, when Europe was strategically loosing the main space in the colonial world to be it conquered by the USA, he explained.

He said that Martí saw that rising empire, which would later on strengthen as a super power and the birth of a new era with the rehearsal of the neo-colonial model anticipated by him.

Cuba, remembered Torres Cuevas, is at a 90 miles distance, the only country that is facing that power; not only with a military power, but with ideas power and those ideas were given by Martí and fit in an extraordinary thinking process that is the Cuban revolution.

Today we are talking once again about the world equilibrium and a reflection from the extraordinary experience of the Cuban people can lead us towards a XXI century with the analysis of our thinkers.

The prestigious intellectual, who is also member of the parliament and of the Cuban Language Academy, urged to remember Martí in order that his presence can be still alive in the XXI century and that we are able to face the challenges he left us.

Torres Cuevas arrived to Moscow, together with the sculptor Alberto Lescay to take part in the commemoration journey for the 155 anniversary of the birth date of José Martí, whose bust was unveiled last 28th of January at the Library of Foreign Literature in Moscow.
