The Cuban Center of Television Serrana is Celebrating its First Fifteen Years of Work
Pieces such as Palabra de joven (Words of young people), El ojo ajeno (The alien eye), Razón de ser (Reason for being), Pura imagen (Pure image) and La mentira más grande (The greatest lie) were seen again by neighbors from the community of San Pablo de Yao, which is the venue of the center, in the Buey Arriba municipality, of the eastern province of Granma.

There was also an exchange among the workers of Televisión Serrana, who reiterated that the difficult and successful trajectory of the staff constitutes a challenge to continue with the improvement of the quality of their proposals.

Isael Martínez, director of the entity, told AIN that the celebrations would finish next July and would include encounters with founders, talks with personalities from culture and presentations of musical groups, such as the Original de Manzanillo orchestra.

Found right in the middle of the Sierra Maestra, the highest and most famous mountain range in the country, Televisión Serrana fulfills its aim to collect the voice and the image of the peasants from the mountain region, in order to contribute to their integration to the social life of the country.

Among the awards reached are the Communitarian Culture National Award and the III Festival Coral of the Latin American New Cinema Festival on the year 2000 for the documentary La Chivichana.

The staff has the distinction The utility of virtue, given by the José Martí Cultural Society and the award to the best documentary in Latin America, at the IV International Video Olympics, which took place in 1998 in South Africa.
