Renowned Cuban Journalist and Writer Joaquín G. Santana Passes Away
Renowned Cuban journalist and writer Joaquín G. Santana died on Friday in Havana of a heart attack at the age of 69.

Santana took part in the revolutionary struggle against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. He remained faithful to the Cuban Revolution and its principles.
The prestigious intellectual collaborated closely with Cuban National Poet Nicolás Guillén, whom he accompanied in several tours around the world.

Santana's vast work includes novels, short stories, commentaries on the most diverse subjects related to Cuba and the rest of the world and news articles.

Prior to his retirement, just a few months ago, he worked as a journalist for Radio Havana Cuba, where his works had tremendous international repercussions. He collaborated also with several other Cuban news agencies.

Joaquín G. Santana was a member of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), the Association of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) and the Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC).
