The 2007 international tour of the Cuban National Ballet ended with The Nutcracker.
The Cuban National Ballet (BNC, after its initials in Spanish), headed by its general director Alicia Alonso is ending its 2007 international tours with the presentation of The Nutcracker in Hamilton, Canada from the 14th up to the 16th of December.

With Hayna Gutiérrez, Sadaise Arencibia, Annia Hidalgo, Taras Domitro and Miguelángel Blanco in the starring roles and with the soloists and the dance group of the BNC, The Nutcracker (choreography by Alicia Alonso on the original by Lev Ivanov, music Piotr Ilich Chaikovski, scritp: Marius Petipa based on the free version of Alexandre Dumas of the story The Nutcracker and the King of the mice, by E.T.A. Hoffmann, designs Guido Fiorato) has been on stage at the Hamilton Place as a New Year gift for the Canadian people.

This version of The Nutcracker, co-produced between the La Fenice Theatre, Carlo Felipe Theatre and the BNC was premiered in 1998 to celebrate the fifty anniversary of the Cuban company. The version was conceived by Alicia Alonso being as loyal as possible to the original text by Ivanov and respected the original choreography.
