Cuba: Economy in Camagüey reports good results in 2007
By producing more than 14 billion pesos, the companies based in the eastern province of Camaguey overachieved its economic plan this year by nearly 12 percent, and grew by 21 per cent in comparison with same period of 2006.

The favorable correlation between the average wage and productivity in most of the local companies, where important salary reforms were undertaken, underpins these results.

Furthermore, Camaguey also reported this year a growth in the export plans and reduced the imports considerably, occupying a relevant place the Fertilizer Factory, of Nuevitas and the Barbed Wire and Electrode Factory, of Minas.

The milk delivered by the agriculture sector to the dairy industry (over 70 million litters) contribute to save currencies, otherwise the country would have to invest millions buying powdered milk in the world market.

This is the fifth year in a row that the mercantile production in the Cuban province of Camagüey grows in a steady manner, at a rate of 500 million pesos per year, even when there are many productive reserves to exploit yet.
