The artist from Santiago, Miguel Ángel Lobaina, 2007 National Engraving Award winner for the work of his life, also won, due to his artistic excellence of the main recognition delivered by the Office of the Curator of the south eastern city, located about one thousand kms from Havana.

At the same time, this artist also won, at the La Confronta gallery of the UNEAC (National Association of Writers and Artists of Cuba) in Santiago de Cuba, the "Crecemos" award delivered by the Caguayo Foundation, in charge in Cuba of the Monumental and Applied arts and directed by the famous sculptor Alberto Lescay.

In front of the main leaders of the territory, artists and a representation of the people of Santiago, Miguel Ángel Lobaina won this tribute for his over 30 years of exquisite creation honoring the Cuban plastic. Owner of a work that highlights the national identity, the tribute makes out of his work a backing to the cultural movement in Cuba, specially in the definition in Santiago de Cuba, where he work as a professor of engraving of the José Joaquín Tejada Academy of Plastic Arts.

A total of 158 collective exhibitions, in Cuba and abroad, back the fine art of Miguel Ángel Lobaina, who has also won another 50 awards and mentions, while US and European halls have been distinguished with his works.
