As part of an initiative started some years ago in Pinar del Rio, a group of farmers of three Agricultural Cooperatives (CPA) made an important donation to health care sector in San Juan y Martinez municipality.

With an equivalent to 200 convertible pesos, representatives of Bienvenido Rubido CPA donated five fans, the same number of calculators and two paper punches.

On the other hand members of the other two cooperatives delievered cleaning equipments, sheets and other tools for collective benefit to some doctors offices.

According to Juan Oliva, president of one of the cooperatives, to donate 2 percent of their earnings to Public Health represents a commitment for the farmers of this territory, "because doctors and nurses are the ones who keep us healthy to work the land".

More that 500 patients will be benefited from these donations, it also helps strengthen work bonds between the ANAP (National Association of Small Farmers) and Public Health Ministry and contributes to improve the work conditions of the professionals.
