Las Tunas.- Two hundred and seventy-six new social works, that benefit to the population of the Cuban eastern province of Las Tunas, were built this year, as part of the strengthening of a program of social development that the revolutionary government supports, with some eight million Cuban convertible pesos.

Among the built and repaired institutions are day cares, homes for old men, pregnant women and orphan children, schools, community workshops, cinemas, theaters, bakeries, markets, telephony centers, mails, butcher shops, parks, housings, doctors' clinics in the neighborhoods, ect.

This project was corroborated with the inauguration of a digital phone plant with 110 lines, which benefits 90 percent of rural families in the community of San Antonio, in the municipality of Jobabo.

New grocery stores, housings, a center of cattle control, a green grocery, a workshop and the first part of the modernization of the local cinema theater were finished in that southern territory of Las Tunas.

The first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party, Jorge Cuevas Ramos, presided over, together with the governmental authorities, the reopening of six centers of big social importance in that territory.

The political leader, underlined that with all this the province reaches the political objectives of improving the well-being in the society. On this matter, he called to intensify the efforts to finish other new similar works to greet this wasy the 49th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
