The IX Symposium of Literary Translation that was held in Havana from the 27th up to the 29th of November was proposing to found and keep an international space for the debate en exchanges in that field that is also considered as a creative process.

About 25 speakers from Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Greece, Cuba, Jamaica, Uruguay and Canada took part in the biennial event, organized by the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (Association of Writers and Artists of Cuba), where the experiences regarding the teaching and the theory research are showed, said to the press its president Lourdes Arencibia.

The conferences and presentations were about different topics, such as the translators of theatre plays, the building of a poetic world through translation, the dilemma of getting the reader closer to the text of other way around and about "Misterio: (Mystery), the first novel translated by Jose Marti.

The ninth edition stands out for the presentation of several titles, among them: "Cuaderno de un Regreso al país natal", of the recognized Caribbean Aime Césaire, by Lourdes Arencibia and Lydia Cabrera (1889 - 1992) and a poetic collection of the Greek writer Yannis Ritzos.

One of the most important moments of the symposium was the table dedicated to the Greek poet, in which in was paid a tribute to Professor Amaury Carbón, an expert of the Greek - Latino literature.

However, he emphasized, this symposium is a conquest in that sense, since as a theory event it has won a great prestige.
