Holguin, a Cuban province nearly 450 miles east of Havana, will soon become a significant power-generating area in the island, as the ongoing investment process is completed; resulting in 544.3 megawatt delivered to the national system by next year.

A meaningful step towards the goals of the Energetic Revolution, a nation-wide effort to save and efficiently produce electricity, was the assembling of several energy generators to account for 207.2 mw in 2006. during the current year new equipment has added other 50 mw to the system.

An absolute achievement is the third wind farm built in Cuba, to be finished within the next month in Gibara, on the northern coast. The farm will have five G52 Spanish power generators each generating 850 kilowatt, all without using oil and completely environmentally friendly.
There are currently four new power generators being built in the province that will provide 282 mw more. The investments amount to 58 millions Cuban Pesos, that is about 2.5 millions US dollars.

The aformentioned works will add to the 500 mw already generated by Felton facility to guarantee Holguin's power genaration potential.
