Vienna Art Orchestra to Play in Havana
Austrian jazz takes center stage in Havana this Thursday evening, with a performance by the Vienna Art Orchestra, as part of the Fourth National Festival of Symphony Orchestras underway at Havana's Amadeo Roldan Theater.

It will be a unique opportunity to appreciate the art of one of the most prestigious Austrian jazz ensembles. Directed by Mathias Ruegg, the orchestra has preserved and developed some of the best of the African-American musical tradition over the last three decades.

Based in Vienna and founded in 1977, it has been defined as "the most American of all European jazz bands," and has delighted audiences in some 50 countries.

Included in its discography are the albums Inside Out-Live (1986), Duke Ellington's Sound of Love (1999) and the recently recorded trilogy made up by American Dreams, European Visionaries, and Visionaries & Dreams, which is expected to be the piece de résistance during the band's presentation in Havana.
