The Cuban writer Cintio Vitier, Ibero-American Prize for Literature Juan Rulfo 2002, said in an exclusive to Cubasí.cu that he finds praiseworthy the attempt of filmmaker Tomas Piard to take to cinema the life of his friend, the poet Jose Lezama Lima (1910-1976).

"I think its praiseworthy the effort, mainly keeping in mind that Lezama, like Marti, was not a show man ", he added.

Cintio Vitier is the husband of the Cuban poetess Fina Garcia Marruzs husband, Pablo Neruda Prize and father of the excellent musicians Sergio and Jose Maria Vitier.

Among his most outstanding works are the poem books El hogar y el olvido (Home and Oblivion): 1946-1949 (1949), Sustancia (Substance) (1950) and Conjetura (Speculation)(1951), the essay Lo cubano en la poesía (Cuban identity in Poetry) and the novels De peña pobre, Los papeles de Jacinto Finalé and Rajando la leña.
