The institution was founded on August 20, 1972, but it was an agreement to celebrate the anniversary on October.

Currently the center counts on 21 442 students and 1 952 professors.

The university has 171 agreements with other centers in 21 countries.

Since its creation, this institution has showed its potential in research studies, which has made possible some awards to the Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Higher Education.

So far, 12 448 students have graduated in this center, and 647 out of them are foreigners.
