Over 407, 000 donations of blood to Public Health of Cuba
Members of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) guarantee all the donations of blood that needs the system of Public Health of Cuba, asserted in the Cuban eastern province of Las Tunas Juan José Rabilero, national coordinator of this organization.

Rabilero stated to Tiempo21 that in those 18, 000 zones of the CDR around the country, three thousand seven detachments of special donors, men and women that give their blood in a disinterested way systematically.

The national coordinator of the CDR underlined that previously the number of voluntary donations used in the assistance centers, for surgical interventions, was only 60 percent, but now they constitute one hundred percent.

During the meeting for the Voluntary Blood Donor Day, held in the Tunas Theater in this city, located to about 670 kilometers to the east from Havana, the territory received a certificate as Outstanding in this task so necessary to to save lives.

Other provinces that received recognition were Pinar de Río, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Granma, Guantánamo, Havana and Sancti Spíritus, as systematic donors.

One hundred outstanding donors from Las Tunas province received the recognition for this task that achieved more than 407, 890 voluntary donations in Cuba from October 2006 to September 2007.

The eight municipalities of Las Tunas fulfilled the plans of donations for 26 consecutive months, and in the 2007 more than 8, 800 men and women, gathered in 98 detachments offered 17, 316 donations.
